Cannon Falls is a city located in Goodhue County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,795. Located along U.S. Highway 52 to the southeast of the Twin Cities, Cannon Falls may be best known as the home of Pachyderm Studio, where many famous musicians have recorded their music. Nirvana is probably the best known band to use the site. The group recorded In Utero at the studio. Cannon Falls also offers an excellent PreK-12 Public Education System Cannon Falls Area Schools.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.5 km2 (4.1 mi2). 10.4 km2 (4.0 mi2) of it is land and 0.2 km2 (0.1 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 1.47% water.
